五重塔-Five-story Pagoda of To-ji Temple
The pagoda of Tō-ji stands 57m high, and is the tallest wooden tower in Japan. Rebuilt in 1643. It is a designated World Heritage site. Tō-ji is a Buddhist temple of the Shingon sect and was founded by imperial decree in 796 AD.
東寺の五重塔は高さ57mで、木造塔としては日本一の高さを誇ります。現在の塔は1643年に再建されたもので、世界遺産に登録されています。東寺は796年に勅令によって創建された真言宗派の寺院です。
